EXP's sound can be categorized as retro and is highly influenced by the great blues rock, blues, rhythm and blues groups and artists of the late '60s and '70s such as The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Johnny Winter, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Otis Redding, Johnny Winter, James Brown, The Meters, Sly and the Family Stone, Edgar Winter, Frank Zappa but also has some more recent and heavier influences such as AC/DC, Prince, Stevie ray Vaughn, King's X, Rage Against the Machine, Queens of the Stone Age, 3RDEYEGIRL
